Paintings

Through my paintings I explore themes of self, community and values. In collaborative works I like to incorporate the bold shapes inspired by constructivism to give the feeling of something solid, many parts fitting and working together. Impressionism influences my paintings of self exploration, with softer tones and swirling brush strokes offering a serene, dream-like quality. A space for contemplation.

In contrast to the bright palettes of acrylic and watercolour, I have also experimented with inks to create sharply defined figurative works to convey themes around my own mental health.

To me, illustration is my day job and painting my past-time pleasure. I love how different styles, colours and compositions can convey an emotion. Illustrations are born out of a story, paintings tell a story.
